I'm screwed. When I left my employment in Nevada in mid July we had group coverage with a national insurance carrier that allowed for out of state non-provider network coverage. My wife is 9 months pregnant with twins and we moved to Utah because of a job change (I'm not eligible for coverage with my new company for 90 days). I elected for COBRA but now my previous employer has changed insurance carriers who don't offer any coverage outside the state of Nevada. So I was initially faced with a 500 dollar deductible and a $3000 out of pocket max to now having to pay the full doctor and hospital bills which could easily be 10 grand or more if they are premies. Do I have any recourse under the COBRA law or am I screwed? I also had my wife do many screening tests thinking that I was covered because my employer did not notify me of not being covered.
