Message: My employer cancelled my coverage without any notice, after qualifying event. No COBRA notification was sent. My wife is high-risk pregnant with twins, and required to take daily injections. My employment ended 07/03, we have continued to use the insurance cards through 09/03 with no problems. I was informed by the insurance company on 09/24/03 that coverage ended 07/03. What are the legal requirements of an employer regarding notification of COBRA elgibility and notification of policy cancellation. Is my former employer responsible for policy reinstatement, or any charges incurred during this non-insured period. Please advise.
