You could use your grace period to avoid paying a month of premium for 5 days of coverage, as long as you have not been doing so already. Make sure there are no waiting periods in your new husbands group health plan.

: My Cobra payments are due on the 25th of every month. I am getting married on the 29th and will be enrolled in husband's policy on the 1st of the following month. Do I go ahead and pay the full amount for the month even though I would only need Cobra coverage for 5 days? Will the overpayment be reimbursed to me? How do I make a smooth transition?
