I live and worked in NYC. On 9-12-03 i resigned my employment with an housing agency. In my resignation letter I requested my options under the Cobre law. I indicated that my new employer will pay the premium for six months or untill I enter the company plan. On 10-2-03 my previous employer wrote me a letter indicating that I must complete the company insurance application and send a check for$340.00 for continue coverage. my question is, I would prefer to not associate with the previous company and willing to pay for coverage via a program. Can I do this? If not do I have any other options ?
