I had Cobra through July 31 and only lost it because my ex employer didn't pay the company premiums for August, so the insurance company cancelled everyone's coverage including regular employees. I lost my job last December and I would have been able to keep the Cobra until July, 2004. Now the company has changed to another insurer. Am I legally allowed to renew my Cobra with them even though I've been uninsured since August 1? If so, do I get another 3 months eligibility to make up for the current 3 months i've been without insurance?
