I was terminated from my employment last month due to illness which I feel is not legal. I had been to the emergency room and doctors several times in a 2 week period, got medication. I had written documentation from doctors recommending a week off, however I still reported for work as I needed my job. The company told me to go home several times and to get better seeming to care about me. One day, after being to the emergency room and then the doctor, I call my employer and he told me I was fired. I still have this medical problem, they didnt send me any documentation about termination or insurance alternatives, I still need medication and doctor visits which I cannot afford now as they didnt even insure me for 30 days after termination. As there are less than 20 employees, I do not believe I qualify for Cobra,. Is there any information anyone can give me that will get me through this.
