Certainly you should consult with an employment attorney. They don't have to provide you with health insurance, but you may qualify for COBRA.

I have been on Short Term Disability since August 4 and I received a Certified Letter from my employer stating that "because of business needs, we are informing you that if you are unable to return to your position without restrictions by Nov. 1, 2003 we will no longer be able to hold your position with the company and your termination date is effective the last date of disability". I have Fibromyalgia and am concerned if A) they can actually terminate me because of this illness and B) how long are they required to provide insurance coverage for me and my family and C) can I apply for Long Term Disability and D) do I now qualify for COBRA? My HR rep won't return my phone calls nor will my manager.
