That is a tricky one. If the health plan administrator is unaware of you military coverage, they may offer you COBRA. Or they may offer it anyway just to meet their requirement. You may want to ask HR if you are going to be offered COBRA. Also inquire about copays, deductibles, etc. for pregnancy first.
: I am a teacher in a district with way more than twenty employees. Our new school year begins August 2. My husband is in the military, but I do not use his insurance; I use Aetna, which is offered through my school district. I am pregnant and due in October so I do not want to return to teaching in August (or ever, for that matter). My question is, will I be eligible for COBRA during August, September, and October? I don't want to deliver on base and would like to continue using my current doctor throughout the pregnancy and birth. Does my military insurance or pregnancy exclude me from Cobra?
