I went on Long term disability on Aug. 5 of 2002 which was considered a reduction in hours, thus a qualifying event for COBRA. My employer continued to pay for my health coverage until Nov. 1. I began paying for COBRA coverage on Nov. 1.
I know my coverage time is 18 months, but my question is this: Is it 18 months from the time I LOST COVERAGE through my employer? (which was Nov. 1) or 18 months from the time I went on LTD? (which was Aug. 5)? I have searched my COBRA rights statement, but can not find where it states this clearly. Any clarification would be appreciated.
