Before I quit my job, I was not only the controller of the company but I had to handle human resource issues. When I first started and had a Cobra question, Anthem sent me a copy of Cobra laws. Our company had 30+ employees and I needed to know if an employee who was covered under Cobra paid their payment after the first on the month if I had the right to terminate their coverage. I interpreted the law to say just as the employer has 30 days to pay the payment after the payment due date before the insurance company cancels the policy, the insured has 30 days to pay their premium. Is this true? See my ex-employer received my payment on the 14th of the October instead of the 1st and without notice they terminated my insurance. Is that legal? Please help. I can't afford to be with insurance and if I am correct I would like to be able to give them a copy of this. See the new "HR Manager" was very adiment that they have the right to cancel my insurance.
