Q1. I have current COBRA coverage and am trying to get private
insurance - no long term pre-existing . I submitted one application and it was returned with serious
limitations. I strained my back and shoulder about 6 months ago, went to
the MD and received an Rx and a list of exercises to perform for 2
weeks. That was 6 months ago, no re-occurance. There are no other claims
for this "injury". The private insurer reviewed my medical records and
refuse to cover "for any reason" any treatments or claims related to the
spinal cord -- including injuries as a result of severe accident such as
car accident. Plus, the proposed insurer, BCBS, refuses to hear an
appeal, or to even disclose their reasoning. What can I do? Who can help
me? Is this legal?
