What happens during the period after COBRA expires and before the HIPAA policy is issued if you were injured or required health care? My COBRA has just expired but I have applied for the guaranteed HIPAA policy since I have a pre-existing condition and have been advised that I do not qualify for an individual underwritten policy. Until the new policy is issued, what would I do in an emergency?
