My 24 year old son was laid off from his job due to cut backs on 8/12/05. On 8/17/05, he broke his hand and had to have surgery. His previous employer (who employs hundreds of people) claims that his coverage on their group policy was over on 9/1/05. Is this legal? I thought that they had to cover him for at least 30 days after his non-voluntary termination date.
Thank you in advance for your help.
