Company mailed out Insurance election forms requiring selections even if no changes were being made. Election period was a 2 week window. Jan 2-16. The company mailed letter dated Jan 5 to my previous address postmarked Jan 6. The letter was forwarded Jan 10 to correct address and arrived after the deadline had passed. Company has now cancelled my Cobra. Speaking to HR they claim I am out of luck because window is closed and there is nothing they can do. They claimed no resposibility for docs arriving late stating it is my own fault because I did not provide updated address, which was done several months ago and All Insurance documents from provider were being mailed to current address. Is there anything I can do? Former company and location was Missouri, current residence is NJ. Please help.
