You have to elect a plan that is offered by the employer, the same as active employees. Since the employer is no longer offering the Blue Choice plan for enrollment, it is no longer an option under COBRA. You have to elect the plan(s) that the employer is sponsoring. This also means you could face changing carriers again during the COBRA period should the employer make another switch.

: I hate to be dense about this issue but I am still unclear. My company will no longer offer the plan I am on after july 1 and they are insisting that I sign up for one of their new plans that are not as good as the one I have now. Am I entitled by law (COBRA) to insist that I get the same coverage that I currently have? And if I sign up for one of their new plans, do I give up the opportunity or the right to insist on keeping my current plan? Thank you.
