: : My qustion is:
: : during that 30 day period (before my check is received) am I removed from coverage until the payment is made and then re-instated ?
: This will depend upon the policy of the employer or plan administrator, I believe. I do not delete people during the grace period, but I don't think it would be illegal. But it would be a pain in the butt. :)
: You will NOT be terminated or removed from coverage until the payment is made. Except in certain situations, your coverage should last to the end of the month with your company and then your COBRA would go into effect the first of the following. However some companies start their coverage loss midnight day of the qualified event. In either situation, you will have to pay from the day that your COBRA coverage would go into effect to the current month. You have 60 days to get the enrollment information in to the administrator and 45 days after the postmark on that enrollment form to get your check in to the administrator. If you pay the full amount due, there will be no laps in your insurance, however you will have to pay an uninsured rate for any would be covered occation and then be reimbursed when your insurance begins. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.
