My father was working for a company that only had short term disability, and was in a horrible truck accident where he fractured his neck. Since the doctors said he would be out of work for over a year, this july 26th which will be 6 months, his work stops covering him, paying him and drops his insurance.

What should he do, is there a way he can continue his medical coverage without a huge increase since he wont have a job?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also if not, can I buy insurance for him, even though I no longer live with him?
