I believe that DC employers are also required to offer COBRA, if they qualify. There is no exception.
DC also has a mini-cobra law that applies to employers with less than 20 employees, which allows continuation for 3 months.
Companies could offer additional continuation time, however the insurance contract would have to allow it.
